Rooted in Nature Designs
Rooted in Nature Designs will help you create a unique garden that enhances your home life and ideally supports the natural environment. I design gardens -- both small and large -- with you and nature in mind by creating spaces to experience the joys of being in your outdoor rooms and to discover the delights of blooming plants and pollinators. My designs combine native and traditional Piedmont shrubs, perennials, trees and grasses (even vegetables and herbs) in a variety of heights, textures and colors so that your garden will be rooted in beauty and nature!
Design Process

The landscape design process starts by meeting with you to learn your goals and dreams for your yard. Rooted in Nature measures and analyzes the outdoor spaces, shares plant and landscaping ideas, researches the best plants for your garden, and draws up a landscape plan and plant list tailored to your needs. I assist clients who wish to plant their garden themselves, and I happily work with professional landscaping companies that can install your design plan. I can also order plants and hardscape materials for patios, paths, and retaining walls.

The Designer
Karen Rindge has been creating gardens and growing plants her entire life. She first learned principles in organic gardening from her father and in art from her mother. Specializing in native and pollinator gardens, Karen received horticulture training at NC State University and is certified in rain garden design and stream bank repair (through NCSU's NC Cooperative Extension). Karen developed her passion for sustainability through years of advocacy leading local non-profit WakeUP Wake County and working for the National Wildlife Federation. In her role at WakeUP, Karen received several awards including Raleigh's Environmental Sustainability Award, Tar Heel of the Week, Indy Citizen Award, and NC American Planning Association Citizen Planner. Karen is a member of the NC Native Plant Society.
