  • NC Native Plant Society  -   Educates and advocates about native plants.

Invasive Plants List  -- Remove these from your property!
While native plants create habitat beneficial to animals and pollinator insects, many plants are very harmful and are crowding out native habitat and are toxic to wildlife.  You may be surprised that some plants already around your home are invasive and should be removed (and certainly not bought!).  Invasive plants include nandina, ligustrum and barberry shrubs, miscanthus grasses, Bradford Pear and Mimosa trees, and many others.  See list of invasive plants on NC State's Extension garden plant website.
